Cheltenham Tigers had a hard physical match against Coney Hill winning 14/5. Cheltenham were trailing from an initial try but responded by a try scored by William Byrd and converted by Ben Pickles.

Cheltenham enjoyed a good second half with plenty of fruitful rucking and mauling. They made up for their lack of size by producing quick ball which resulted in a try for Ben Pickles which he converted himself.

This was a hard fought game played between two evenly matched sides.
The Tigers can be pleased with their performance which was a good all round team effort

Cheltenham Panthers 5 Coney Hill 48

The ‘B’ team, the Panthers came out to play, after a strenuous training with Peter Brunt. We were supposed to be playing the Coney Hill ‘B’ team, but from the sidelines, we noticed few differences in the line-up. Peter made a few adjustments to the team to accommodate this and our many injuries, as the game progressed. It was a thoroughly exciting match, with our own Stuart Pickles refereeing.

Stuart told us after the match “The ‘B’ team were facing a very strong Coney Hill team, that was mostly it’s firsts. In the 1st half they faced tough opposition, with some big runners and conceded several tries. However, in the 2nd half, they came out fighting and showed great spirit and Alex Chalkin scored their only try, which was converted , so they narrowly lost the 2nd half 2-1. Though the rucking does need to be worked on, it was a great display of teamwork.” Final score was 48-7 (8-1) In all, a tough match, but the boys rose magnificently to the challenge. Hopefully, all the injured will be fit to train next weekend.
