Child Protection Policy

Cheltenham Rugby Football Club, its Officers, Coaches and Managers, acknowledge the personal dignity and rights of children, towards whom they have a special responsibility and a duty of care.

As part of a Club and as individuals, we will undertake all in our power to provide a safe environment for children and young people for their protection from harm while they are in our care. If there is any reason to suspect that abuse has been committed, Cheltenham RFC will report our concerns to the appropriate authority.

All the Officers, Coaches, Managers and helpers of Cheltenham RFC Youth Development Section are screened and police checked before taking a role within the organisation. This screening procedure is undertaken by the Criminal Records Bureau to ensure that those who have children in their care or are working with children on behalf of Cheltenham RFC, any primary and secondary school and/or the local council, are safe to do so. All Cheltenham RFC Youth Development Officers, Coaches, Managers and helpers are fully acquainted with the requirements of the Child Protection Act and have attended Child Protection seminars as directed by the Rugby Football Union, the Rugby Football Union for Women and Sport England.
