The Under 7s squad now consists of a group of approximately 25 players, and most weekends we are able to field two teams.
Our objective this year is to develop the basic skills and understanding of the game in a way that is fun and enjoyable for as many of the players as possible. Knowing that players of this age have short attention spans, the coaches ensure that the training sessions are varied and full of different tasks so that the players can develop their skills in ways they find entertaining and interesting. Code Of Conduct
As a result, the motivation of the players is maintained and the size of the squad continues to grow. No less important, the quality of the rugby gets better and better each week.
Coaches ensure that all players, girls and boys, are included each week, both in training sessions and in matches, and we welcome new players to the squad at any time – it’s never too late to join.
Under 7's play on Sunday mornings, from 10.00 to 12.00, either a match or training at Newlands Park. Training and matches are conducted in most weather conditions so appropriate clothing will be required.
We are also scheduled to participate in many away games and tournaments during the season. Cheltenham Tigers Mini Fixtures 2009 / 2010

No Match to report this week.
This was due to the cancellation of the Match against St Mary's Old Boys this weekend (07/03/10) due to a frozen pitch at Newlands.

No Match to report this week.
Players and coaches worked very hard this weekend, with the remaining under 8's joining us for a wet and very muddy training session.
(Under 8's played away at Longlevens). Fantastic progress made by all players in preperation for the match next week.

Match Reports
Last Match Played 14th February 2010
U7’s played two matches this weekend at Marlborough, demonstrating impressive improvement. Live on a chilly Sunday morning, our man at the ground reports.
Marlborough V Cheltenham (4 – 5)
Following last weeks defeat, the depleted squad due to half term commitments regrouped upon a wind swept, desolate common of Marlborough. Warmed by the friendly welcome of Marlborough, the under 7’s lifted their heads to face the sloping field and challenge ahead. Armed with reviewed tagging, attack and defence game plan, the team commenced strongly. So strong was the tagging that not only did Cheltenham remove a tag, but the whole belt with it! No valentines hearts for Cheltenham though as the Marlborough player, minus his tag belt, was awarded a try. Marlborough held firm but newfound confidence earned from a now solid Cheltenham defence managed to maintain an even score at half time. Playing down hill (and with the wind behind them) allowed Cheltenham to continue pressure and with a last minute break and, despite brilliant rugby by Marlborough, Cheltenham touched down, stealing a well deserved victory.
Avonvale V Marlborough (5 – 5)
With a quick break, the still breathless squad took to the pitch again to face Avonvale. Short of players, two players from Cheltenham volunteered, making the ultimate sportsmanship gesture of playing for the other side. Unfortunately, they played brilliantly, helping fend off the exhausted Tigers, now playing uphill, with a splendid display of determination, Cheltenham still held back the downhill attack, rolling out a draw, just in time for the full time whistle. All retreated to the immaculate facilities for hot dogs, orange squash and cheers all round.
