The Under 7s squad now consists of a group of approximately 20 players, and most weekends we are able to field two teams.
Our objective this year is to develop the basic skills and understanding of the game in a way that is fun and enjoyable for as many of the players as possible. Knowing that players of this age have short attention spans, the coaches ensure that the training sessions are varied and full of different tasks so that the players can develop their skills in ways they find entertaining and interesting. Code Of Conduct
As a result, the motivation of the players is maintained and the size of the squad continues to grow. No less important, the quality of the rugby gets better and better each week.
Coaches ensure that all players, girls and boys, are included each week, both in training sessions and in matches, and we welcome new players to the squad at any time. Joining Details It’s never too late to join.
Under 7's play on Sunday mornings, from 10.00 to 12.00, either a match or training at Newlands Park. Training and matches are conducted in most weather conditions so appropriate clothing will be required.
We are also scheduled to participate in many away games and tournaments during the season. Cheltenham Tigers Mini Fixtures 2010 / 2011

Match Reports
Last and Final Match of the 2009 / 2010 Season, Played 11th April 2010
Cleve V Cheltenham Tigers
1st game 5-3
2nd game 3-8
The Under 7's squad of 8 gathered at Cleve Rugby Football Club in Bristol for a fun filled and dramatic two matches.
An enthusiastic Bristolian rugby club played their U7's squad first. Approaching the end of the first half the Tigers tagging, lacking somewhat put Cleve well ahead. After taking on board coaches and parents words of wisdom, an invigorated Tigers team, lifted their heads and produced an almighty burst of energy and began tagging like they have never tagged before! (Amazing what the threat of "NO TV for a whole week" seems to produce) . Suddenly, Cleve's coach hit the turf like a sack of spuds. Unable to continue with a calf Injury, and rolling around the floor in agony the game was halted, and for the first time in Tag Rugby history a Sub Coach entered the field of play. Cleve, with an equally enthusiastic Sub Coach, followed by an assault upon a tiring Cleve defence, saw Cheltenham claw back 3 try's. Unfortunately just a little too late (and with no injury time for the coach allowed) to halt a top team from stealing the win. An amazing effort from both sides. Well done Cleve! and a fantastic effort by Cheltenham.
After a shorter break than preferred, the slightly fatigued Tigers stepped up to the half way mark for their second, and historic moment, as this was the last match of the 2009 / 2010 season. The tagging passing and passing was to say the least, superb. All players got to handle the ball (and a player or two). Deploying the newly learned ‘Side Step’ technique the U7’s steamed away in to the lead, with try after talented try, delivered a stunning result. With a score to be proud of, Cheltenham U7's take away a memory hopefully to stay with them for years to come.
We wish Cleve’s Coach all the very best and a speedy recovery, and look forward to his return next season.
Match Played 28th March 2010
Cheltenham Tigers played Minchinhampton at their home ground.
Steve Court reports.
Minchinhampton V Cheltenham Tigers
1st game 4-4
2nd game 2-3
A friendly welcome met the Under 7s on a windy but sunny morning at Minchinhampton. The Tigers were a little depleted so top marks to Minchinhampton for sportsmanship, as they loaned two of their players for the first half of the first game. It was a very energetic game and after a recap of the off-side rule, the Tigers found themselves in the lead right up until the last few seconds of the match. With the crowd on the edge of their seats, Minchinhampton scored the equaliser just as the whistle blew.
The squad had chance for just a quick break before a second game. The Tigers were fantastic in their tagging efforts and their hard work was rewarded with a well deserved victory.
Head Coach Comments… , "Well done Cheltenham U7's, another brilliant and well deserved result, supreme effort from all who played!!"
